D’Arcy Harrison
Board Secretary
D’Arcy Harrison became a transplant from Rhode Island in 2000 and has a background in theatre, producing, marketing, and non-profit program administration. D’Arcy became a licensed cosmetologist in 2003 once attending Greenwood Academy of Hair and received training via It&Ly Hairfashion, Vidal Sassoon and SEVEN the salon. D’Arcy has been a sole proprietor since 2012 of D’Arcy Hair Design (“Creating Hair Happiness”) and is also now full owner of Emerson Salon. (Winner of the AWB.org 2019 Washington Advance Excellence Award.) She values speaking truth to power and believes in ethical business practices. D’Arcy pursued business development and advanced training through VENTURES, a non-profit in support of microbusiness entrepreneurs. She first dabbled in political activism while attending Emerson College as a door-to-door canvasser for the Massachusetts chapter of the Public Interest Research Group. In winter 2019, Ms. Harrison worked passionately in service to her industry to create bill breakdowns, community + client outreach, a press release, phone scripts and instructional/marketing videos. She also regularly attends and testifies at hearings in Olympia to protect cosmetology & small business from state bills introduced by legislators in WA State. D’Arcy whole heartedly believes cosmetology businesses will be similarly targeted in the future by state or nationwide legislation and that the only way to battle it is through a coordinated united chorus of educated and powerful voices in opposition. She is currently Interim Board Secretary and also Western WA Legislative Lead.
