
D’Arcy Harrison
President
D’Arcy Harrison became a transplant from Rhode Island in 2000 and has a background in theatre, producing, marketing, and non-profit program administration. D’Arcy became a licensed cosmetologist in 2003 once attending Greenwood Academy of Hair and has received training at Vidal Sassoon and advanced training through the now closed SEVEN the salon. D’Arcy has been a sole proprietor since 2012 of D’Arcy Hair Design (“Creating Hair Happiness”) and is also now full owner of Emerson Salon. (Winner of the AWB.org 2019 Washington Advance Excellence Award.) She values speaking truth to power and believes in ethical business practices. D’Arcy pursued business development and advanced training through VENTURES, a non-profit in support of microbusiness entrepreneurs. She first dabbled in political activism while attending Emerson College as a door-to-door canvasser for the Massachusetts chapter of the Public Interest Research Group. Ms. Harrison works passionately in service to her industry to create bill breakdowns, community outreach, press releases, phone scripts and instructional/marketing videos. She also regularly attends and testifies at hearings in Olympia as Legislative Lead to COWU. This is in order to protect cosmetology & small business from state bills introduced by legislators in WA State. D’Arcy whole heartedly believes cosmetology businesses will be similarly targeted in the future by state legislation and that the only way to battle it is through a coordinated chorus of educated and powerful voices . She is currently Board President and Legislative Lead.
