Advocate Appreciation Month
This year, we deemed AUGUST to be ADVOCATE APPRECIATION MONTH!
Our enrolled members have been diligently working in shops, spas and salons and COWU wanted to show the love and appreciation for their survival, tenacity, strength and determination during the Covid19 pandemic. Our enrolled members have been diligently working in shops, spas and salons and we wanted to show the love and appreciation for their tenacity, strength and determination during the Covid19 pandemic. From shutdown, to applying for loans, to applying for unemployment and learning perpetually updated protocols- Personal Services providers and businesses have shown exemplary professionalism and business savvy. COWU organized one event in Eastern WA hosted by Studio 13 in Spokane Valley with Megan White and D’Arcy Harrison. Then we hosted another event in Western WA at by Evergreen Beauty College Renton with owner & advocate Frank Trieu. Leadership was there in full force with Raeana Rader, Samantha Knowles, D’Arcy Harrison and Opal Pitzler. Sparkling wine and pizza were enjoyed by all at both locations!
Brooke Davies is now our 2022-2023 Year Round Legislative Lobbyist for COWU (84% of our Advocates voted YES to hire Brooke Davies for the Year in Aug 2022.) She was in attendance at the Western WA event where we discussed the history of COWU and it success & progress as well as items surrounding the new DOL licensing system, our new quarterly check-ins with DOL and questions about permanent makeup in WA state. It was great to finally be able to see and hug colleagues in person!
We are proud to stand with and beside you in WA state as the key voice for our industry in Olympia and beyond.

It was so nice to meet D’Arcy and Megan. I am so thankful for all they have done for the hairdressers of Washington.
