Phase 2 Resources

Last week we were given guidelines as to the requirements we must abide by upon return to our salons. In those requirements many of us found just as many questions as answers. Cosmetologists United has been working closely with the COVID-19 Advisory Board to answer your questions. We have created an FAQ based on the information we were given from our contacts on the advisory board. We also anxiously await more clarity from our governing bodies on this matter, as it has seemed that not everyone in the overseeing agencies can seem to agree on the correct way to interpret the guidelines, causing frustration amoungst everyone.

The guidelines call for certain items to be posted throughout the salon. You can find those items on this page.

Front Door/Window Signs

Notices to guests about face coverings requirements must be placed on the front door or window to the establishment. All guests to the salon are required to wear a face covering during their service.

If your salon takes walk-in appointments there must be a notice on the door or front window of the establishment regarding access to the facility. During COVID-19 walk-in appointments are not allowed. The sign regarding availability should include a phone number for potential customers to call in order to inquire about current availability. If your establishment does not accept walk-in guests this should also be posted on the facilities front door or window.

It may also be prudent to post other signs in the window to alert guests to salon expectations upon entering the establishment, and signs that remind them to practice social distancing (to the extent possible) once in the salon.

Once entering the facility the salon should direct the guest to the nearest hand washing station. It is to post signs regarding how to properly wash hands in these areas. Hand washing sings can be found here.

Establishment must post a comprehensive COVID-19 exposure control, mitigation, and recovery plan. This must be available to during personal service activities, and for inspection by state and local authorities.

COVID-19 Safety information and requirements such as CDC, DOH, and OSHA posters must also be visibly posted in the salon.
